America the Punchline is a feature-length documentary that explores how the world perceives America - using the international comedy circuit as its platform.

An American comedian (Eddie Ifft) who has traveled the circuit and performed at comedy clubs abroad for several years, is sent on the road again. But this time, he brings along a camera crew and attempts to uncover honest opinions about America throughout Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia (11 countries total). Along the way, he asks the world’s citizens what they love or hate about America - what they could do without, what they wish they could emulate, how their opinions came to be, and most importantly... What’s so funny?

With stand-up comedy by international comics and the varied perspectives offered by authors, professors, social critics and everyday people on the street, this film becomes a social narrative of the global perception of America. It begs to answer the question, has America become the punchline?
